Doing it with out a clutch pedal

Great idea Tom,

but have you ever thought of shifting without engaging the clutch ?
AFAIK modern racecars do this by cutting the injection and/or spark
for a few cycles. So the engine is rotating without power and the 
gears are able to match much easier. For starting and stopping
purposes you'll have to use the clutch anyway.

Just my 0.2 cents.
