I'm very new to electronics and I was looking for an inexpensive soldering station to get started...after reviewing the various entry level stations on the market I found that Edsyn has some 951SX's on sale at:

I thought these might be a good alternative to a used Weller WTCP unit so I decided to pass this info. along, any feedback is appreciated, Here is a copy of my e-mail to Edsyn and their response:

ABN says: What is the difference between the 951SX and the 951SXR that is
listed on your clearance site? Why are they sold "as is", do they have any blemishes etc. that differentiate them from your normal 951SX stations?

Edsyn Says: The only difference between the 951SX and the 951SXR is that the 951SXR has been returned to us by a distributor that went out of business. These stations are about six years old but have never been out of the box. They are the same model, version and type as the current 951SX. We took them back at a pretty steep discount and are passing the savings along to our customers.

Thank you for your interest.
