I had some trouble myself with the original kit (built for the LSM-11, pre
WB-PCB). I isolated the problem to the comparator IC2a, but changed that chip
without success.

I finally got some joy after replacing the socket and resoldering around the
8 pin IC2. I was never sure if it was the original 8 pin socket, or just my
soldering job, but it sure wasted some time...

Also, the kit can be pretty finicky about the pin and socket interconnections
between the processor and display PCB. When I was writing the new software I
actually use three short lengths of ribbon cable with pins and sockets on each
end, so I wouldn't have to split the two boards just to changes the software.
