Knock sensing and retarding ignition

If the problem with the LM1815 is that the hall signal does not drop
below zero volt, the solution could be to use a distributor with an inductive
pickup. This signal does, unlike the square hall signal, cross zero
volts. This pickup is used in many european cars. The bosch distributor
on my car has an inductive pickup.
