I have seen something similiar to this in the 93-95 northstar program.  
Basicly the computer under different conditions may choose the first table,  
the second table, or stack the value from the first table and then subtract 
the first from the second and multiply the difference by a scaling factor 
before adding(or subtracting) to the first value.

Can you dig into the code a little and see if the situation is the same?
