[Diy_efi] Redundant Fuel Injection

I recently met a fellow working on a redundant EFI system that I can't
find any reference to in archives or on the net.

Perhaps someone on this list could shed light on the idea.

I will try and explain what was going on as best i can.

4 VW CIS injectors plumbed into a basic distribution block that aslo had
2 pressure sensors, this was then plumbed into two parallel fuel pumps.

For the hardware that was it. The intention was to control pressure at
the injector (and therefore flow) with PWM of the pumps. If one pump
died the other one was still going providing fuel pressure.

Eventually the concept was to have two identical ECM's controlling a
pump each.

The idea was intended for use on a aircrft.

As best I remember the sensors were RPM, MAT, MAP, CTS and Fuel
Pressure. There was no TPS or O2 sensor. And the fuel pressure sensor
was some kind of pressure differential sensor that hooked into the fuel
rail and manifold. Some kind of Ford sensor I was told.

I think it was a RPM vs MAP = fuel pressure lookup table.

i hope to hear pros and cons of this as i plan to go baack and check up
on progress soon. But I would like to have some basis of knowledge to
ask questions.

Thanks
Andrew
