Joel, you've got a lot of stuff going on! i can give a little advice, a
"good 700r-4" (some might call that an oxy-moron) would be '87 and up, they
have upgraded parts some of which being a bigger 30 spline input, bigger 3-4
and low reverse sprag and other internal mods to make them stronger. they are
a good tranny due to the low first gear and the overdrive. but they do have
limmits, don't put a horse trailer behind one and expect it to live long. i
much prefer the later eec controlled 4l60-e's, they do away one of the
biggest problems in the 700, the throttle valve controlled vale body. if i
were to attemt a swap and had a friend at a junk yard i would try to find a
94-95 camaro or such with the 4l60 and then you can reprogram both the engine
and trans.(might have to beef up the trans if it were to go into a heavy rig)

to my knowlage most if not all production cars use saturated injectors,
peak-hold type are used mostly by racers or exotics. most ford injectors are
rated at 19lbs/hr. the dohc mustangs have 24lb. injectors. as for the old
using the old hei dist., if you want to retain ecu controll of the timing i
think it would be easyer to use the new style distibutor. i dont know if the
old 7 pin ignition module uses the same ignition control signal as the new
style. as far as your obd 1 swap i am alittle confused, hondas "obd1" (the
old style) was a pain to troubleshoot, no scan tool interface, the new obd2
96-97and up by law had to have a standard scan tool port and some standard
data pins. if you are thinking of an obd 2 swap that would be cool, however
if you are going to do that much work, why not swap a later modle gm system
on it, that way it would be easyer to modify and diagnose? getting the v-tech
system to work might be tricky though. good luck. joe
