O2 Sensor Placement

Hello gang,

I am new to the list and have been lurking around for a bit.  I am
wondering how close to the head the O2 sensor can be mounted.  My EGT's are
up around 1600 F measured at 1.5" from head.  Also is there anywhere I can
purchase the connector without going to a junk yard ?
