You are burning pounds of air not CFM. Air density through charge cooling
increases density and lowers the charge air temp. Adding pounds of air through
more boost comes with the burden of compressor efficiency and the related heat
that lowers air density. So the real goal is to get as many pounds of air in
while still having the coolest charge air temp as possible. That is why an
engine with small ports and a lot of boost seldom even comes close to the power
output of an engine with properly sized ports and way less boost..
It is always about density..
