[Diy_efi] LPG injection

I have seen a few turbo cars run solely on propane. I was not impressed.
They were not any faster than the gasoline guys were. All the propane
converted cars I have been in were quite a bit down on power compared to
their gasoline state. Maybe it was not tuned to the max. I did have the
opportunity to ride in a mini bus that had a 454 converted to propane. That
thing actually impressed me for a bus.
I do believe that alcohol has a higher energy content than propane, but I am
sure Greg will give us some #s. So I am not sure how a propane powered car
would produce more power than an alcohol car. The fact that the propane
gets the charge cooler in it's liquid state than alcohol does not make up in
the least for the fact that alcohol just simply makes more power per unit of
fluid.
Does anyone else have any links to propane powered drag cars? I have done a
few searches on the internet, and they all come to the same conclusion that
they make less power than on gasoline with the propane. ERIC.

If you have seen an LPG system it will be vapour phase, so nothing like a
liquid phase. Found the mail last night. Apparantly -25C has been measured
as IAT with liquid propane. Thats 248K as opposed to the 266K in your
example or about 7% less.

An engine will make more power on methanol than propane.......I think you
will need to put your money where your mouth is on that one. If you meant
that vapour phase propane produces less power than methanol I would believe
you I am also happy to believe that you have never come across a propane
engine tuned to the maximum. Don't mean it hasn't been done
