Some 20 years back I recall reading an article about fuel cycling
on a variation to a K-Jetronic system, it goes like this:-

a. Basis is K-Jetronic system with sequential injector
    firing.

b. Operation is normal except when engine warmed up and on
'steady state' cruise, the ECU would selectively skip
a fuel ijection cycle but keep all else the same...
ie. Once in say 6 engine revolutions (or more depending
on load) certain cylinders would have their fuel injection
    suspended.

Hello Mike,

I don't think that is possible, K jet uses mechanical injectors that spray
all the time like garden nozzles. Clever little vibrating pin in the tip for
atomization. Cadillac experimented with shutting down alternate cylinders
using electronic injectors. I think the "4-6-8" was a nightmare for the
company. The Northstar ECU has a limp home mode that shuts down alternate
cylinders to "air cool" the engine during cooling system failure. It is
acceptable under the warrantee to drive the car over 50 miles with "no
coolant".
