DNot all gm crank sensors use the same type of sensor. The Buick 6cyl
derivatives use Hall effect. The 60 deg. v6 and several 4 cyls use
inductive sensors producing an a/c signal for the module.

I>Please turn off html. You mess up the archives.

DI>If you are using a GM DIS it uses a hall effect sensor. These give a TTL
DI>output. GM crank wheels are very small as they fit behind the balancer wheel
DI>in most cars.

DI>A reluctor is more speed controlled. That is why zero crossing detectors are
DI>used. How on earth do you think an HEI module gets an accurate signal with
DI>only a 1" diameter star wheel.

DI>Diameter matters not one jot unless you go out of your way to badly design
DI>things.

DI>well here is my thought on this very subject and i will take any flames or
DI>compliments.as the diameter of the wheel decreases the speed of the trigger
DI>will go down at the outer most edge. even if the wheel were the right
DI>pattern this change in speed could drive the module nuts. think about it now
DI>the wheel is going solwer with a smaller trigger area. even properly scalled
DI>its still not what it had when it was first desinged. by changing the
DI>dimension of the wheel you could be inadverently scrweing with it. its
DI>actually apretty simple concept really a 36x drive cant read a cd rom disk
DI>spinning at 48x speeds can it ??
