Scott, while changing the ECU, possibly some sensors,
injectors, fuel pressure regulator, and turbocharger
don't really constitute "drastically changing ALL of
the motor" (emphasis mine), it does constitute a very
expensive and drastic change to a large part of the
powertrain.
I think you overreacted just a tad...
