[Diy_efi] ECU molding material removal?

I've got as hold of a sagem ecu(a failed unit) made
for my motorcycle and I began taking it apart. I got
the cover off and it is one big blob of some sort of
spongy molded material. Is there a good way to remove
it? Am I wasting my time?
