Port injection is not the same as sequential injection.
With port injection you have injectors for every port, but
they might be arranged to 1 or 2 banks
(not synchronized to the intake valve: batch injection).
Either the megasquirt or the megasquirtavr can do this.
(ECM-wise it's almost the same as TBI).
With sequential injection the squirts are timed to the intake
valve. There is not much difference power-wise (batch<=>seq),
but emission and mileage is somewhat better with sequential.

Megasquirtavr can do sequential, since it has the resources:
ioport, memory, CPU-time. The motorola based megasquirt
have neither. (theoretically you could rewrite the software, and
reorganize the HW but it would be insane)
 The msavr firmware enhancements doing
sequential (it's achieved with an eventqueue) is under testing.
(stresstested with a PC and serial-port logging and diagnostics
to cover hundreds of millions of events)
Even if it turns out some codeparts need to be enhanced, it
should be solid before you get the board (8-10days)
 in your hands.
