Also, read the lit for the DRV103 very carefully. The current limit is NOT
what it initially appears to be.
NOTES: (1) Output current is limited by internal current limit and by DRV103
power dissipation. (2) Output current resets to zero when current limit is
reached. (10) PowerPADT SO-8 (H) package has highest continuous current (2A)
because the chip operates at a lower junction temperature when underside
metal tab is connected to a heat sink or heat spreader.

So the PEAK current limit is somewhere between 3 and 4.2A, Continuous 2A,
until the device starts to warm up, then these limits drop. And when they
drop, you get partial injection cycles, not a good thing. Based on some of
the results found using the megasquirt, 3A peak is not enough for all
injectors. Finally the settings for duty cycle and peak time are not easily
reset, so if you ever change your injectors, you would have to change
hardware to match.

The L584 is the nicest choice, just not available to you and I. :-(

Keith

You know you've achieved perfection in design,
not when you have nothing more to add,
but when you have nothing more to take away.

Subject: [Diy_efi] peak-and-hold injector driver ic's

| Does anyone know of any other peak and hold injector driver IC's than the
| standard
| LM1949(National), L584(ST) and DRV103(TI)
|
| The CS452/453's are no longer in production, and so are very hard to get
| ahold of.
| I've thought about making up a discrete circuit for the same effect, ie
high
| current turn on, switch to low current hold after some time t. It'd just
| take up a little more room, and cost a little more in added component
cost.
| Any ideas??
|
| Thanks,
| Bevan
