[Diy_efi] X-raying a PCB w/ your scanner

So I'm following traces on my ECM and I remember an article I
just read in the June 2003 issue of QST that could make my
task easier. In the Hints & Kinks column on pg. 62, Tasos
Thomaidis describes how he uses his scanner to scan both
sides of a PCB in full color, saving them as a .TIF file.
He then imports them into CorelDraw (v9), MIRRORs one image,
and converts them to transparencies w/ the GLASS button so he
can view both sides simultaniously rather than flipping the PCB
back and forth.

I've purposefully "glossed" over some of the details, a bit
more info in the magazine, you s/b able to find it at stores
that sell Ham Radio, perhaps electronics stores and your local
Library.

If the PCB doesn't have an internal power plane, you can sometimes
use strong backlighting to view the traces, depending on the PCB
material.

rgds (and 73),
