Dunno, haven't seen a gas-powered car explode in a while either :) NOS and
propane are totally different though.

I made a spreadsheet comparing gas, ethanol, methanol and propane. Only did
the heat of vaporization though, didn't take into account the heat absorbed
by the propane when it expands, since I'm not really sure how to do that.
Maybe one day I'll get un-lazy and figure it out.

Heat of evap (BTU/lb)
ethanol:  396
methanol: 506
propane: 138
gas: 150

In gas form, not counting their cooling effects, the alkies take up a lot of
space compared to the energy they release.
