Don't know the history of the engine.  Plugs are per the book.  Running
premium improves the situation but that engine shouldn't need premium.

Has the engine always done this or just since the
conversion?  Going back to the basics of bad fuel or
too hot of a plug may be another route to look into. 
Try adding some octane booster and see if it helps.
