yeap! more so with the added benefit of the OH part of the alcohol molecules, 
that adds a little extra oxygen to the combustion process. 
And the alcohol has a much less detonation tendencies compared to the 
gasoline.

Water/alky injection was used very sucessfully on boosted engines on WWII, 
like the Rolls Merlin engine.
