its interesting to notice that here in europe most of the "green" parties are in reality just a subsidiary of the local communist party(or whatever they call themselves now) and also have the habit of switching t-shirt and be also "no-global","peace people","no war for oil" etc etc.

i remember back in italy a few years ago when they were trying to convince people to buy plastic x-mas trees instead of the real ones duh!!!

they are also responsible for the nuclear ban through a referendum in italy. of course all the media showing pictures of babies with two heads and 3 legs just before the poll didnt help that much.

italy now buys large amounts of electricity from france and switzerland, which produce it with nuclear powerplans not far away from the italian border. needless to say that electricity in italy is the most expensive in europe, having to rely almost completely on oil burning to produce it and having to buy the rest from abroad.

personally i regard these "greens" as the worse hypocrites (spelling...), and can hardly imagine that they really believe to the BS they profess.

the way to "environmentally friendly" is not easy or cheap, and daydreaming of hydrogen or "alternative energy" (i wonder what would it be? wind? solar?) won't help.

here in switzerland for example a mix of strict emission regulations, extremely efficient public transport, car pool, cycling when weather allows and a system of cooperatives where for a modest fee is possible to subscribe to a service where is possible to rent several types of car any time is needed, nuclear and hydroelectric powerstations makes for a very clean country. it is rather expensive though.

unfortunatly the emission regs are very strict, on the verge of being stupid. i had to get rid of my non-kat car when i moved here. and its not possible to import a non kat car even if a kat is fitted, unless the car is previous to 1980 or so.
