Gents,
My cars (Peugeots) have top mounted fuel fuel pick-ups (and gauges
too for that matter) as illustrated in the link. above both there are
plastic bungs in the car floor which allow access/ removal/replacement
of all of these items without disturbing the tank - easy I have replaced
fuel gauge senders and an in tank pump in 5 minutes (after 350,000km the
copper segments on the commutator were worn away to the point where only
the underlying bakelite was visible! ).
I would have thought that all car manufacturers would have had the
forethought to put access bungs in the floor ...... if so you should,
likewise be able to fix the problem properly, and quickly.
