Hi,

as a barefoot efi'er, I suggest you advance spark timing by experience. 
advance it until engine starts to rattle (dunno the right word for it), 
then retard a bit. some ignition systems use this method on-the fly, 
thus faciliating different octane fuels with maximum efficiency... :)
