As fond as I am of Weber carburators, I despise these junky carburetors
Briggs and Stratton and Techumseh uses on their small one cylinder engines.
The latest Walbro carburetors don't even have adjustment screws other than
the idle speed!!
The other day I going to play around on my go-kart and couldn't keep the
thing running. I seem to think all the bouncing around has messed up the
float level. I just rebuilt it last year and it worked great for awhile.
When I took it apart then, I noticed the float level was off so I had to
adjust it. I think the same thing has happened this time.
I mentioned this awhile back when I was trying to get my Weber DFTA to
accept the turbo I installed on my Yugo.
This may be too simplistic for a 4 cylinder car engine but what about a one
cylinder small engine?
I'm revisiting my idea of using a 555 timer chip to control the pulse rate
of a single Bosch injector. Use a potentiometer to adjust the mixture to
increase the frequency the injector sprays and the tach single from the
coil to control the pulse width.
The carburetor will still be there. I'll only be using it as a throttle
body and the choke. Basically just to replace the needle/seat and jets.
So does this sound too simplistic? If you have ever taken a lawnmower
carburetor apart there is not much too them.
