If you don't mind, I'd like to see the sources you have studied, because
what I've read is far in the opposite direction, like 7 gallons of
petroleum to produce 1 gallon of ethanol.

 

Steve, something just occured to me:

Could the 7 gallons of petroleum figure per gallon of ethanol come from the 1920's prohibition era? I could be very well be that that much fuel was used by the booze-runners per gallon of moonshine at the speakeasy. :-)
