[Diy_efi] comments on reorganizing lists

For all there is to be said about this, Gmail offers free accounts with
2600+ megs of free storage, and it expands at the rate of something along
the lines of 1/8th a meg a day (150kilobytes approx) which would be more
than enough space to accomodate all of this traffic. 1) you can search
using googles engine through all of your mail in seconds, 2) it can archive,
sort, and do all of the following, and 3) the people on this list are
intelligent people... I find sites that make it easy to 'sign up' tend to
have 4000 messages with "my 2003 car has a check engine light, can you help"
-- or potentially other unwanted traffic.

I don't hate forums, and actually maintain two myself, (both running PHPBB)
and must warn about some of the trojans out there. Just yesterday i had to
update software as there was *something* out there creating hundreds of
accounts an hour and posting adult links throughout the forum at the rate of
5 posts a minute. (Filled the DB on the server quickly) and slowed
operation. Just more stuff to contend with that really doesn't happen with
e-mail.

Too bad we can't do an ASCII dump of the daily digest to a server, then
setup a google engine to search all of those. (maybe we can?)
