Jeff, The MAP sensor output, or any other sensor output, needs 
to be "conditioned" and fed to the modulation input of the 555 
(pin 5) This will vary the pulse width. If the 555 is triggered 
by the ign pulse, the RPM will take care of itself - the 555 
needs to be run in the monoshot mode, not free running.
