A good point.  I will need to have the output change at a rate 
acceptable for rapid accel response, which is a big driver in the 
project to begin with.  Of course it will need to smooth enough to 
reduce the jitter.

I'm not sure the jitter will be a problem, as Daniel pointed out the 
distance of MAF from TB will help.  It hope it will be no worse than the 
AFM flap jitter, which doesn't seem to affect the car adversely in 
standard form.

How would I go about calculating the frequency of the pulses over the 
rev range?  The engine (m40b18 for the BMW guys) is a 1.8 4pot 8valve.
