I have been reviewing the info available in this group making or
adapting an TBI system from a GM 1.8l.
I was wondering how much of the programming I would or might have to
change(if any) to make this system work on a 1.3l motor. I have the
computer, TBI, wiring and all the sensors from a 1985 chevy cavalier
with a 4 speed. This project is going into a 1987 suzuki samurai.

According to my Mitchell On-Demand, an '85 4-cyl Cavalier should have a
01226867 ECM. The factory spec'd different PROMs for auto, 4-, and
5-speed cars, as well as Cali and 49-state, but it appears that they all
have the same brain. Your factory distributor pickup should drive the
EST ignition module with no problem.

John, here is a WWW page that you should be familiar with.

www.cruzers.com/~ludis

click on C3 cross reference (C3 is the first generation GM computer,
what the cavalier had)

Under 1985 there is a 1.8L shown with computer 1226864, and a 2.0 shown
with 1226867. Don't know which the cavalier used but you should have
one or the other.

Google doesn't show me anything for tuning either, but I did find this
in the gmecm archives:

"I managed to get a 747 to run a single injector tbi 4cyl. by swapping
netres out of a 1226867, tuning it is another matter, there are no other
editor readable 4cyl. bins to compare to that I know of..If tunercat has
a
definition file for a 4cyl 730 Id go that route..As far as getting a 747
to
run 4 injectors Id have no clue..
Dan"

I would agree that finding sensors and getting the distributor to
trigger the ECM are bigger concerns than tuning the difference between
1.8 and 1.3. Also, the 1227165 and 1227730 were used in 4 cyl
applications and are more modern that what you have, so there may be
tuners available. Try a google search and find what turns up.

Finally, questions about GM are probably better asked on the gmecm list.
