I think any info regarding peripheral's register addresses and what not, would be OK to release, also none of the algorithms that were developed were not patented. Just a quick overview of this GMWPX software product: It was used in a heavy duty spark ignited diesel conversion application meant for busses and large stationary engines that ran on natural gas, hydrogen, or propane, up to 8 cylinders. The code handled drive by wire throttle in order to increase efficiency by always limiting any pumping losses due to throttle angle. It was mostly meant for boosted lean burn A/F ratios but the code would work at any ratio, rich or lean, as long as the engine could handle it. It had waist gate control, sequential spark control for individual cylinder timing and dwell of each individual coil, (Delphi coils on each plug), jerk detection (which did work very well), Drive by wire throttle, a single PWM controlled non linear fuel control valve for the gaseous fuel, fuel mass measurement, speed density A/F control ( map, temp,...), the knock control hardware was there and the pezio electric device's input could be detected but the code for this was not finished and was stubbed out beyond this. It had table driven feed forward PIDs for just about all of its feed back control algorithms including control of a lean burn ego sensor with external hardware/driver O2 pumps, which I do not have or its associated documents, and heuristic learning. All this from a ECU meant for light duty V8s. ________________________________ Celebrate Earth Day everyday! Discover 10 things you can do to help slow climate change. Yahoo! If a cylinders max pressure is not at or around 12 deg ATD or does not have the peak that the other cylinders have then it is posisble to detect this at a given crank speed and medium to heavy load. It is best if ther crank speed is NOT meauered with a free running counter, but a instead a counter that has its tics fired directly by the pulses of the crank shaft time wheel. Thanks for any input you might be able to offer, Dave From BowTieVette at aol.com Sat May 27 13:22:19 2006 From: BowTieVette at aol.com (BowTieVette at aol.com) Date: Sat, 27 May 2006 14:22:19 EDT Subject: [Efi332] Crank trigger wheel and sensor source Message-ID: <472.1c16da5.31a9f2db@aol.com> First off, I'll say crank wheel and sensor setup is probably the most critical issue in setting up any efi system, diy or otherwise. Although the VR sensors work well, they do require some careful selection to make sure you have adequate signal while cranking and also do not saturate the LM1815 at your maximum rpm. They are also more sensitive to crank wheel runout and spacing than Hall Effect sensors. Not big problems, but they do require some attention to detail. Cherry makes a whole line of hall effect gear tooth sensors that work well too. These require 3 wires vs 2 for the VR, and a pullup, but work well. You may want to consider using twisted pair with these as well. They are in the $30-50 range at Digikey. Its not a bad idea to set up your sensor bracketry to be able to accomodate both to give you some options. The sensors aren't that pricey. As for wheels, Electromotive has the most complete range in the 60-2 flavor, and you already know about the special LS1 wheels in I think the 30-1 format. If Electromotive does not have exactly the right size for you, you might consider drawing one up and having it cut for you. You'll want to watch tolerances on the teeth, but doing this will allow you to customize the mounting arrangement to allow easy and precise centering of the wheel to control the runout.
