Suction through a unpowered Tank Pump.

Hello Bruce
That's what I am trying to do! The 86 suburban already has a return line
for the mechanical fuel pump. The chassis fuel lines are in two sections
front and rear they meet around the transfer case. they are interconnected
with rubber fuel line. This is the factory location for the fuel injection
fuel filter. So my plan was to replace the rear section of fuel lines from
a 90 suburban, replace the fuel tank also a 90 suburban, run the pump
wiring and interconnect the front and rear lines. so the only double work
would be at the interconnection.
But the big question was could the mechanical pump pull fuel through the
in-tank pump?
