Thanks for the replies and the links.

I have read the 101 and tuning tips. I have a pretty
good idea of where I want to go and 101 and the tips
covers it.

Where I fall short (and I suspect other rookies too) is
where and how to get started.

I'd like to put together a short and sweet howto that can
get someone new into the easier projects.

For instance, what is the prefered computer platform? I
currently have a 386 that is dual booting between DOS and
Linux. DOS seems favored because more programs are
written for it (promedit and others).

What does the EFI list recommend for ALDL scanning
software? I like the look of DIACOM, but dislike the
price tag. Does GMECM recommend a freeware software
package or does everyone buy DIACOM?

If I got some feedback on this, I'd like to document it
and then newbies could know exactly where to start.

(Sorry for the length, but I'd like to recap.)

With recommendations from GMECMers, I'd like to document
the preferred hardware and software that a newbie can use
to scan the ALDL connector to determine stock ECM
operating characteristics.

Any takers?

PS. Nanda, you offered your help. Are you at or past
this stage yet? What do you use to do it? Thanks.
