95 vs 96 pcm

Mike,

The 96 PCM is a very different beast. There are actually
two different processor complexes in the PCM. The E side is
very similar from 95 to 96, but the T side made significant
changes to support OBD-II the T side processor went from a
512K Flash chip to a 1024K Flash chip, and changed the
memory mapping to accomplish this. You have to use an 8051
to run the 94-95 Flash. I can flash the 94-95 PCM's. I can
put the 95 Impalla SS or 95 Cop Car Flash into any 8051 for
you. Unless you are keeping all the accessories, you will
want to do some flash changes like turn off VATS, adjust for
rear end ratio & tire size differences, etc. I don't think
you will get far with a Dealer, unless you have a contact at
the dealership. Very few GM dealers really want to play with
the PCM. You give them a VIN, and at best they make your PCM
match that VIN.

You can eliminate the egr etc, and put a resistor in place
of the solenoids to fool the PCM, or you can have these
"features" turned off in the PCM.
