VATS is GM's premium theft deterrent system. The systems are all basically 
the same. The newer models have a longer time delay between guesses, if 
trying to determine which resistor pellet you need. The late Vettes, not 
C5's, transmitted the OK signal through the data line from a CCM (Central 
Control Module). This is not defeatable with a 555 timer gizmo. I'd strongly 
recommend using a 8051 PCM for any performance application. The VATS can be 
permanently defeated with the 8051. The PCM disables the injectors, not the 
easily restorable fuel pump. The 96 PCM 4399 box, has dozens of codes to 
satisfy for "Emissions Compliance." Take a look at an OEM manual for a Z28, 
Impala SS or whatever, you'll change your mind quick.
