Yes... No word about it... digital means 0 or 1, off or on.
Bits and Bytes are digital signals arranged in multiples... a nibble is 4
bits, a byte or word is 8 bits

Actually, digital signals are neither serial or parallel... serial and
parallel are ways digital signals are transferred.
