Power levels reduced in first gear is a thing called tourque management,
something GM thought up and is in their trucks as well.  It is supposed to make
shifting and driving easier, in reality, all it is is a way to make inferior
transmissions last and take the control away from the driver.  What good is 300
hp when the PCM won't give you acess to it?
