Beat that dead horse again! clarification PLUS new

Not exactly sure what you mean by "what exactly are you looking for." I
guess I'm looking for someone with experience in that area. Also, wondering
what in the ECM code is most effected by cam changes. Is it the spark map,
fuel curve, both, something else? I'd like to do it myself, i.e. change the
code and avoid paying Hypertech and get the experience. For reference, what
Hypertech chip did you use to get it to run? Was it a custom? Or was it
one of there canned chips? (Sorry to use such foul language as Hypertech on
this forum ;-)

As for more computer friendly cams, from what I remember, they have very
similar specs to the ZZ3 but do have reduced lift, i.e. don't flow quite as
much. It seems this cam SHOULD work similar to them especially since it's
the exhaust lift (0.510") that's fairly radical and not the intake lift.
Although a 0.474" intake lift is quite an increase over stock. Sorry,
getting more into engine stuff and less into ECM.

Steve

I have some experience with the zz3 and a 165 MAF TPI. About 4 years ago, I
put them together in the wife's car. Not much to tell except the stock chip
runs badly. Off idle accel stumbles, idle is very rough, etc. Hypertech
chip makes it run nice. What exactly are you looking for.

Well, mostly rumor. I've heard reports that the zz3 + tbi is a
driveability nightmare. This from people running that combo. I've
asked for stories at various times regarding this engine and efi, and
haven't gotten many good ones. There might be more computer friendly
cams out there. You might ask this question on an F-body list or a
Vette list, as somebody must have tried to run the complete package.
