OBD II chip??????

You can purchase the "Auto-tap" J1850 -> RS-232 converter from
www.autotap.com. Its not the chip you were looking for but rather a
self-contained converter.

I do not know if it converts the protocol and sends it right to the RS-232
port or if it has some kind of preprocessor which translates it into their
own protocol. It comes with the converter and DOS based PC software for
interfacing to your OBD-II computer

However if your aware of this product and trying to build your own I
apologize for the email.
