WB, NB, and broken pistons

The 14.7:1, is a number that has a real nice place in theory. It is not a
sweet spot for anything, other then an AFR, to toggle over for emissions
work. It's an average. In theory it best satisfies the chemist, little
else.
Best idle quality can be quite richer or leaner, cruise can usually be
leaner, and WOT richer. In some applications, 14.7:1 at WOT, might melt a
hole in a piston. If the K/S catchs it you'll save the pistons, but have
little power with all the timing it will have removed.
The above is in reference to a conventional GM, V8.
