change program type

I forgot to mention this item of confusion, In the pocket programmer
software, main menu: item#7, change program type...do I want byte mode, word
odd, word even, or long word for reading/editing my eprom?..its a
27c128a...88 4cyl truck, 165, bcc amjw8486...its currently in byte mode..
