If I recall correctly, from the service manual I have for a '91
Caprice, the temp related lockup happens internal to the transmission.
ie if the 4th gear switch is closed, and if the temp is too high, then
the TCC solenoid is internally grounded. Has nothing to do with the
computer. So if you have a scan tool and you see that the TCC is locked
up when the ecm isn't commanding it then it may be temperature.
