Are you using an open plenum manifold?  If so, that may be contributing
to 
your problem.   Look at the firing order.  1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

Front of engine

   1       2
   3       4
   5       6
   7       8


Cylinder 5 may be robbing cyl 7 of some fuel.  If you change to a dual
plane,
you will put 1-4-6-7 on one injector, and 2-3-5-8 on the other.

This will separate the intake pulses into 1-4-6-7 and 8-3-5-2, with the
pulses
being separated by 180 deg of crank rotation.  This will match up the
firing 
order to the injector firing order, allowing more even fuel
distribution.  

Now all this assumes you are using an open plenum.  If not, forget
this..... ;-)
