And I thought life didn't begin 'till the VSS came alive.

I've used sensors from United Speedometer and Instrument in California with
success.  So far the longest time with no failure that I'm aware of is about 4
years.  That's as long as the sensor's been installed in the vehicle.  Every day
is a new record for that part.

You need to watch quality.  The units I buy have a lifetime warranty, and are
fairly rugged.  I've seen lesser quality sensors which seem less likely to
last.  I have not used any of these plastic encased sensors so I cannot say how
well they actually hold up.
