GM Fuel Pump control scheme

Vega? Chevy Luv? Cars/trucks from the 70s? Maybe there was no limp home mode 
back then. Maybe when the engine was running it was limp home mode all the 
time (analog). Perhaps the OP switch in those cars was the defacto fuel pump 
control and the modern OP switch is a carry over idea from those cars. 
Otherwise, I'm guessing.
