Code 32 on 165

Thanks, but I actually have that book. I noticed from 165 ECM schematics at
Ludis's site the EGR temp sensor appears to be a thermostatic switch. It
looks like a digital input to the ECM that goes into some MUX chip (I
assume) with an SPI interface to the micro. So I'm wondering if my valve is
just going bad or if the higher temp thermostat is causing the temp switch
to never change. I would think the sensor would get REALLY hot when exhaust
gas is flowing. Therefore, I must be dealing with a flaky valve, solenoid,
temp switch, etc... Just wanted some insight from all the knowledge
available here.

Thanks! Steve

The EGR valve and temp diag switch are new within 2 years (and vacuum
lines). The vac solenoid is new within a year. That's what solved this
problem before. Any connection bewteen the higher engine temps and this
thing suddenly setting code 32? >>

Hey Steve,
According to the book "How to Tune and Modify Chevy Fuel Injection" by
Ben
Watson, it says:

"Code 32 relates to a perceived failure of the EGR system to function. On a

5.7 TPI Code 32 means that the temperature of the sensor in the EGR tube has

not increased, therefore the ECM does not know if the EGR valve opened when
it was commanded to."

If you need some info on how to diagnose the problem, I can scan the
relevant
pages for you if it'll help.
