Since the vehicle took a direct lightning hit , It would be nearly
impossible
to ascertain the collateral damage in a casual manner.
The Vette needs to be check'd stem to stern , the possibility that all
electrical
and mechanical components have sustained some degree of damage is very
real.
It's very difficult to uncover hidden problems that could involve any
component,
even for the most talented. The Engine , trans and axle bearings for
instance ,
all could have varying degrees of welding or not . Some of the metal
parts may
     have become magnetized as well.
All depends where the JOLT found ground. Many gremlins may haunt
you for a long time to come. The insurance adjuster may Total the car for
reason of major concealed damage. Occurances such as you have sustained
are really tough calls. It's very fortunate that You and Your Father OK.
The Vette may be fatally wounded however !
I would hope that Insurance Co totals the car, so it can be replaced
with
a non toasted version, otherwise the present Vette may never be Ok again,
    notwithstanding large transfusions of cash.

>everyone think? The ECM is toast for sure.... wiring harness near the fuse
>box melted and put out alot of smoke.... digital dash is completely
>gone..... a/c controls don't do anything anymore (no fans, no a/c compressor

>the seat, and the windshield and trim will need to be replaced.....

>is something that can be repaired? I actually want them to total it because

>Give me your thoughts.... or if anyone has experience with this sort of
