Or possibly having someone make you a wheel so that it is round & clearance
is not such an issue. sounds like a cool project. let me know how it goes.

You may or may not remember, but I am the guy, who a couple of years ago,
welded some bolt heads to the dampener of my Jag (4.2l 6cyl) and got DIS
going on that one. I used a basically stock Berreta bin and the car ran
much
better than with carbs, just letting the BLMs do the tuning. Then I tried
to
get the DIS module to work with the already hacked SyTy .bin. but I just
couldn't get it to work right.
Well, the Jag is still going strong (I'm no longer the owner, though), and
may be the only DIS Xj6 on the planet! (maybe not!), but now I want to try a
different method with this Alfa.
One thing I had done with the Jag is to buy a reluctor wheel from
Electromotive and grind off the appropriate teeth to get the right signal.
It worked, but my mounting for the sensor was not so hot, and I could not
get
the wheel mounted concentrically (sp?)(thousandths of an inch) on the
distributor shaft. The sensor was VERY sensitive to air gap, so these
problems combined to create an unreliable system (I would sometimes have to
tap on the distributor to get it running!)
I still have the reluctor wheel somewhere, so I was thinking of trying that
method again.
Well just rambling,
Tom
