     While it's possible that a serpentine system can display
     crankshaft torsional responses , the tension device itself
     can be a noise generator. These noise frequencies
     being variable in nature can certainly excite a knock
     sensor. Solid Lifter cams , forged pistons
     and some exhaust reverbs are just as troublesome.
