So here in lies I think the answer to an even more basic question (as Steve
pointed out). is the reason for the heartache, 'cause ya cant get the 749?
& even if you did you would not know what the pinout would be so tryin to
get a harness would be just as bad?
I tried to get a copy of the wiring harness from SyTy.org but I did not see
anything there. maybe I am looking in the wrong place. I was hoping to
finger out how the harnesses differ & see if that helps to explain why the
wastegate does not work.
later on that, I guess, I have a ton of reading to do

I've been going through these QuadIV cars like crazy at the yards, still
haven't
found a 749 in ANY of them. What years should I be looking for?

The 749 is definitely used in 3 applications sold in the US.
1) 4 cylinder Sunbird and Grand Am, w/ manual and auto trans. Early
Sunbird turbos
used a different ecm.
2) 6 cylinder Syclone/Typhoon. Specialty truck. If you find one in a junk
yard,
_Immediately_ notify me. I'll instruct you on what to do next.
3) 4 cylinder 2.3L Quad 4 equipped N body cars (Olds Cutlass Calais,
Pontiac Grand
Am) with auto trans.
