With the dearth of traffic it might be OK to post an off-topic
goodie. This has to do with cleaning the windows on your car.
Ever have your glass get to the point that nothing will get the
spots off. The rear hatch glass on Firebirds and Camaros will
get like this. It is almost like the glass has been etched. It isn't
though, it is a buildup of minerals and deposits from rain.
Use a rubbing compound on the glass to clean it!
I used Turtle Wax brand liquid rubbing compound. Comes in
a 1 pint can, typically used for paint. As you rub it in spray some
water on it to keep it from drying too quickly.
The rear hatch was so bad that I was ready to buy a new one.
I had tried many different things to get the deposits off: toothpaste,
semichrome, glass cleaners, vinegar, ammonia, even cerium oxide
polish. They either did not work, or required way too much effort.
The rubbing compound did the trick!
